Swimathon Success

Please give thanks to the Lord that the Swimathon was a great success. All ages (from the youngest at 11 to the oldest 93) took part and the money is still pouring in, but it should raise over two thousand pounds. The Argus appeared and at the weekend there was an article on the Swimathon and a centrespread article on the Anti-Freeze project. Every one had great fun whilst raising money for the vulnerable in our City!

Thank you to everyone who took part particularly James Clark (93) who did 20 lengths and Phil Whittaker who did 236 Lengths. However this was not just a fundraising exercise and thanks to this event Off the Fence is now more widely known - praise God.

Next Year off the Fence is holding a Charity Gala Swim night in September as part of our 10 Year Anniversary celebrations; we will need lots of swimmers. Details to follow soon.

Schools Out - update!

As promised here are just a few pictures from our recent mission trip to Hungary. They show some of the work with children that we were able to do including puppets and parachute games as well as a chance for us to encourage the Christians in two local churches (well we hope our singing encouraged them!)

The pictures also show the poverty in the gypsy villages where we worked. The house under construction is being built for a family of five who currently live in the tent pictured. The Dad in this family lost his legs in a train accident.
The young people on the team are already asking when they can go back to continue the work we started - we are hoping to find a date in 2007 when this can happen - once again watch this space!

Thank you to everyone taking part. We wish you every success with your swim.

Harvest Gifts

Ministry Director, Paul Young, receives donations from Mike Jee, Head teacher of Aldrington CE Aided Primary School

In response to our Harvest Festival Appeal, we have been overwhelmed by the generosity of local schools and churches. The Antifreeze Project is now richly resourced with tea, coffee, biscuits and other goodies to give away to those most in need across Brighton and Hove.

What a difference a hot cup of tea makes to someone on the streets through the winter months!

Thank you so much to the following schools and churches who have contributed:
- Aldrington CE Aided Primary School
- Benfield Junior School
- Bevendean Primary School
- Bishop Hannington Memorial Church
- Portslade Infant School
- Southern Cross Evangelical Free Church
- St. Christopher's School
- St. Mary's Hall
- Westdene Primary School.
