PINK goes public!
'PINK', a girls' group for years 7 and 8, was launched at Cardinal Newman Secondary School yesterday. In a buzz of excitement girls streamed into the room with laughter and anticipation. With the room full to capacity with over 30 girls, we had to turn many away. The theme of the launch party was 'Black, White & Pink'. The fun began with a blindfold tasting game in which contestants had to identify the mysterious foods including marshmallows, black olives and mushrooms. The girls then designed some brilliant 'PINK' posters.
At second break there were even more girls! We began by outlining the purpose of 'PINK': to consider issues that particularly interest girls (fashion, beauty, movies, self esteem, relationship) in light of Jesus' declaration that He came to give us life in all it's fullness (John 10:10). The session ended with teams fashioning an outfit from newspaper and pink tissue paper. The winning team came up with an amazing Princess dress complete with crown and pink veil.
We are delighted to be working with the Chaplaincy of Cardinal Newman school in this venture and look forward to the coming weeks of 'PINK'.
