Hygiene for all

A health and hygiene service to those sleeping rough

In a 2017 survey, 67% of the homeless in Brighton reported at least one preventable health condition and 34% reported that their health condition contributed to unemployment and difficulty handling daily living. The risk of death is 8 times higher in people who experience these conditions.

Establishing proper hygiene is key to a sense of self-worth and better health. This includes regularly brushing teeth, washing hair, washing hands, cleaning with soap, wearing deodorant, having feminine hygiene products, and clean underwear and socks. When people don't have access to these facilities, the consequences range from unemployment to serious illness. We believe every person has a right to good health and hygiene.

Our Hygiene for All project meets the immediate needs of homeless men and women on the streets. This project sits within the existing strategy of our ANTIFREEZE project and works towards the same mission to see individuals housed, employed and back on their feet living a fuller, better life.
