How Scarlett Chapman
came to Off The Fence

For three years running Scarlett Rose (Scarlett Chapman), 12, has been busking in Brighton
and Hove raising money for the homeless each Christmas. Across the three years over £7000
has been raised, with this year's goal to raise £3000. Her father James who has generously funded this project brought Scarlett to meet us.

Things you probably didn't know about Scarlett:

1.

This isn’t Scarlett’s first foray into fundraising for the homeless. She has been busking in the city of Brighton and Hove for the past few years in December and the run-up to Christmas. During that time she has raised over £7,000 for homeless charities. During lockdown (when she couldn’t go busking) she wrote and released another charity song, aged just 10 years old!

2.

Scarlett’s passion to help to right social inequality in our society started when she saw homeless people in the streets and asked her parents “Why are there homeless people?” When her parents were unable to answer, she asked “What can I do to help?” Scarlett decided to sing and raise money for the homeless, and aged just eight, she made her first public performance.

3.

This year Scarlett has been working with charity ‘Off the Fence’ to raise as much money for the homeless and those in need and just released her new single ‘Home’. Everything raised with the single release and all the busking Scarlett does during December, 100% of it will go to ‘Off the Fence’.

Scarlett says:

“I am very excited to be raising money for charity again this year. ‘Off the Fence’ is my chosen charity and I’m looking forward to raising as much money as possible to give to them, which they will use to help homeless people around Brighton and Hove. Their project ‘Antifreeze’ provides food, hot drinks, sleeping bags and hygiene items to the homeless and this is something that will really show those who are homeless this Christmas, that people care. This is something that means a lot to me.”
