Volunteer

Volunteer at Off The Fence and help those most in need in Brighton & Hove.

Brighton is not a city of us and them. It’s just us. What we do for those who have fallen on hard times in our city, we do for our city.

We currently have around 50 volunteers working across our three projects in a range of different roles. Our current volunteer vacancies are below, but if you have a skill that you think would benefit us in a way you don’t see listed below, please get in touch.

Events:
We operate several large events across the year, on average once a month. These include community events such as fairs, the Christmas Festival, our Big Sleep Out; Woolly Hat Day and more. Please contact our Corporate and Community Lead, Sarah Melvin.

Antifreeze:
A variety of different roles including homeless day centre assistant; evening street outreach volunteer for rough sleepers, street outreach bag/trolley distribution assistant, prayer supporter etc. Please see more details of volunteer roles here or contact our Antifreeze Deputy Manager, Monica Harding.

Gateway Women’s Centre:
Volunteers support us at our groups and activities, and roles might involve sharing their skills, helping with hospitality, befriending-style conversations, support with admin/ behind the scenes support. Please contact the Gateway Centre Manager, Gen Fox for our current vacancies.

Schools:
Our Schools and Youth team support schoolchildren and staff in schools by providing one-to-one befriending and mentoring. DBS check necessary.
Please see more details of volunteer roles here or contact Schools and Youth Manager Lizzi Demetriou.

I felt proud to be working for a company that supports such a small local charity helping to bring dignity to peoples lives.

All our volunteers are subject to a DBS check.
